Well, after hours and hours of playing Rock Band, we’re finally at the ‘Endless Setlist’. Space Invaders, our band, is on the cusp of reaching legendary status. All we need to do is play roughly six straight hours of Rock Band, 58 songs in total, and we will be amongst the elite. So check in with us as the day goes by and see how we’re doing. Odds are we will lose either a limb or our minds. Don’t forget to hit refresh!
11:50 am – Chris: Just getting everything setup. For your reference at home, Julie will be playing the guitar and I will be playing the drums. We will be going through the Endless Setlist on Hard difficulty.
11:59 am – Julie: Okay, here we go. First things first, we need to get our characters properly outfitted. If we’re going to be epic, we have to look the part.
12:06 pm – Chris: We’re already behind schedule as Julie has yet to find a suitable outfit to be seen in for 58 songs. Also, I have put on band-aids to protect my ‘blister points’. Fun.
12:14 pm – Julie: Sorry about that, all done now. I am notorious for taking too long to dress my character. But I think it was worth it:
12:23 pm – Julie: Okay, here we go for real.
12:44 pm – Chris: We are four songs in and I just 100%ed ‘I Think I’m Paranoid’ by Garbage. Julie was within one note of matching my score but got into her own head at the end of the song and goofed. It’s all downhill from here.
12:57 pm – Chris: Julie redeemed herself by getting 100% on ‘Here It Goes Again’ by OK Go. So did I. Our first dual 100% in Rock Band history. Well, Space Invaders history anyways.
1:16 pm – Julie: I’m back in the swing of things with 100% on ‘Maps’. Which I must say is an excellent song. Also, for the record, we have totally dual 100%ed before, Chris just doesn’t remember it. For those keeping track, I am just developing the warning signs of “Rock Band Claw” now, at 12 songs. If you don’t know, Rock Band Claw, or RBC, is an affliction suffered by Rock Band guitarists where your fingers stiffen up around the guitar controller, and become more and more difficult to straighten as time goes on.
1:28 pm – Chris: I have the sad duty to announce that our 5 star streak ended at 13 songs. The 14th Song, ‘Brainpower’ by Freezepop was apparently too much for us. Actually neither of us really remember playing it before, so it’s nouveauté kinda took us by surprise. Oh well…
1:37 pm – Chris: We have returned to the zone with back-to-back drumming 100%s on ‘Sabotage’ and ‘Blitzkreig Bop’.
1:49 pm – Julie: Woo! First ever 100% guitar on ‘When You Were Young’ by The Killers. This would make me even happier if the song were actually ‘Mr Brightside’ by The Killers, which is a much better song. Apparently they don’t take my song choices into account when making these games. Jerks.
2:12 pm – Julie: VAGIANT is quite possibly the best band name ever. If it’s not the best, it’s a close second to ‘Hell Toupee’
2:39 pm – Chris: We’ve powered through 29 of 58 songs…halfway! Not really. We’ve only begun to hit some of the more difficult songs in the game, not to mention that some of the harder songs are ten minute opuses. Yuck.
2:45 pm – Julie: Took a quick break, grabbed a beer, and now I am ready to rock.
3:19 pm – Chris: We just finished ‘Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld’. Four stars. I need some water.
3:36 pm – Julie: How the hell did the Red Hot Chilli Peppers ever become famous? They can’t sing, all their songs sound the same, and they have an unhealthy obsession with the word “California”. Blah blah blibbity blah, California. Any moron can do that. Ugh.
4:01 pm – Julie: RBC in full effect now. Also experiencing a mild case of SAE (Strumming Arm Exhaustion). 44 Songs down, though. The end is near.
4:17 pm – Chris: ‘Next To You’ by The Police is next. You wouldn’t think a Police song would be killer but this is one of only two songs I still consistantly fail at. If Julie doesn’t get the first two star power, uh, I mean overdrive phrases, we’re toast.
4:23 pm – Chris: We made it through ‘Next To You’, thanks in large part to Julie the Saviour.
4:32 pm – Julie: We’re getting to the point in the setlist where every song elicits either a “booo” or an “I hate this song” from one or both of us. Next up: ‘Tom Sawyer’ BOOOOOO.
4:44 pm – Chris: 50 songs down, 8 to go and I’m starting to feel it. My right knee is sore, I can tell that my right wrist will really hurt once I try to do something with it other than hit a plastic drum head but the thing that’s bothering me the most right now is my neck. Very weird. Call me a chiropractor.
5:01 pm – Julie: I HATE GREEN GRASS AND HIGH TIDES!!! The song is good… to listen to. To play on guitar in Rock Band? Balls! As an aside, my arms really hurt.
5:15 pm – Julie: Chris may not be able to type anymore, his wrist seems in pretty rough shape. We’re painfully (literally) close to the end of the setlist now. As a special treat the next song is ‘Long Time’ by Boston. It’s the first time in at least two hours that a song came on and we both said “yay!”
5:31 pm – Julie: Hey, Molly Hatchet….. SUCK IT!
5:43 pm – Chris: Well thanks to ‘Run To The Hills’ my wrist is now pulp and there’s but one song to go. ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’ is hard enough when you haven’t been playing for five and a half hours plus. Let’s do this!
5:57 pm – Julie: It’s official. We are legends.
Yeah, it feels pretty good. Except for our aching wrists, knees, arms, fingers, etc. Thanks for cheering us on (I’m assuming you were cheering us on….) Thanks also to Chris for not mentioning the 3 times I tried to start a song with my guitar turned off.
Legends!!!!!

Yay! Well done.
Congrats on getting Legended.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
As we say in the World of World of Warcraft…”epic!”
This kind of reminds me of the time Tim started Legend of Zelda and I fell asleep, only to wake up a few hours later to him finishing the game!
Way to go guys!
Lol Rob I remember that! It was two hours to be exact. While that is no where close to a speed record for the original Legend of Zelda, It’s still pretty impressive considering how many years it had been since I last played. And yes, I was still able to remember where all the heart tanks were!
WOW!!!
You guys are INSANE!!!!!!!!!
awesome job!! Well done!
I agreed with you
omg.. good work, guy
thanks much, bro
thats for sure, dude
